Accelerated Schools Graduation 2019

May 24, 2019

Commencement exercises were held on the grounds of Accelerated Schools on May 24, 2019.  Nineteen students were able to participate in the ceremony.

The program began with Pomp and Circumstance played by our music teacher, Valerie Montano.  Associate Director Michelle Tuengel read the invocation.  Executive Director Jane Queen introduced the staff to the audience.  The teacher staff followed with the student awards:

Georgina Bruce presented the Outstanding Science Award to Chloe Cantey.

Cale Dunlap also gave an Honor Student Award to Griffin Sun.

Dan Toomey was delighted to long-time student Eli Biehl with the Citizenship Award.

The prestigious Presidential Outstanding Achievement Award was given to Tia Karkos by Jane Queen.

Oliver England then followed with the Senior Address to the community.  A former student and current staff member Teresa Osuna then gave her unique reflections on the dual roles she has played while a member of the Accelerated family.

Principal’s John Klieforth and Aundrea McCormick read the family tributes to the graduates.  Always an emotional high for this special occasion, it produced some tears, a few laughs, and a lot of smiles.  Senior Nathan Shahadi followed with a musical interlude.

The culmination piece was the presentation of the class by the principal’s followed by the presentation of diplomas by the teaching staff.  In addition to the students already mentioned, the following students also went through ceremonies: Oliver England, Elena Farrell, Rachel Harnsberger, Dokyung Hwang, Tae Kim, Ryan McKenna-Shadowens, Ana Morris, Han Nguyen, Cheng Peng, and Lian Trout.

Evan Simpson gave the benediction before all adjourned for cake and refreshments.

Congratulations and best luck to all of the graduates.  It has been a great ride and we look forward to watching you grow into the larger roles you will be playing in life after Accelerated Schools.
