Part-time Van/Bus Driver

(No CDL needed)

Split shift part-time drivers needed for Accelerated Schools, a private non-profit organization. Experienced drivers needed to transport students to and from school.


Driver should be familiar with entire Denver metro area, able to drive a 14-passenger shuttle bus and available for weekday morning and afternoon routes. Our drivers may also earn extra hours when available between routes by busing students and teachers to local activities once per week. Students need to arrive at school by 9:30 a.m. and be taken home when school ends at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoons, our students are dismissed at 2:00 p.m. You are guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours of work per week.

Applicants should be experienced bus drivers, reliable, have an overall clean driving record in last five years and good role model for K-12 students. All applicants must be able to pass a CBI background, fingerprint check and must bring a current month DMV report to the interview. Certification in CPR is preferred. Our school is located near 1-25 and Colorado Blvd. Please consider this location before applying.

Job Description

Accelerated Schools is searching for a key addition to the Executive Team, with the creation of a new full-time Office/Clerical position (40 hours/week). This position will work in concert with the Executive Director and the Executive Team to provide excellent customer service to the stakeholders of Accelerated Schools. We are looking for qualified applicants with strong attention to detail, a great sense of humor, and the ability to anticipate needs and take action independently. Accelerated Schools is steeped in history, located in southeast Denver, near Denver University. The school is located in the historic Iliff mansion with a student body of approximately 70 and a staff of 20. This position provides a wide variety of administrative support duties to the Executive Team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, helping and assisting in tracking students, managing the student data base, school newsletter, updating the web-site, taking minutes, maintaining the postage machine, purchasing, conducting the fall barbecue, calling in absences, ordering food, maintaining the birthday card program, answering telephones, conducting head counts, supervising the lunch room, managing work orders, implementing a digital school calendar, taking inventory, developing publications, setting up event/Awards Night/Back-to-School night, photocopying, sorting mail and substituting for staff in emergencies.

Salary: $15/hour at 40 hours per week. Eligible for partial health insurance reimbursement, partial 403(b) match and a graduated vacation schedule after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 2 years complex administrative support experience including dealing with confidential information. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements. Must have flexibility in work schedule to meet desired needs.

Ability to deal with practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization may exist. Ability to use independent judgment in most situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Outstanding customer service and interpersonal communication skills are required. Ability to apply strong computer and Internet research skills. Ability to multi-task and interact in a dynamic environment using independent judgment and personal initiative. Proficient in MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to exercise independent judgment in absence of supervision.

Job Description

This is position is a full-time position which requires the candidate to have the ability to teach math at all levels, from basic math skills through calculus with a high level of content knowledge. A solid working knowledge of graphing calculators is required. A successful candidate will have previous successful teaching experience in math at the secondary level including creating an active, dynamic, and engaging learning environment in the classroom. This candidate will also demonstrate positive relationships with students, parents, support staff, teachers, counselors, and administrators. Finally, a successful candidate will be committed to the mission, vision, and values of Accelerated Schools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Documentation of successful teaching and learning practices that are applicable to Accelerated Schools.
  • Documented ability to design instruction that reflects the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served in accordance with the Common Core Standards and graduation requirements.
  • Documented ability to collaborate and work effectively with departments, administrators, counselors, parents, and others to achieve school goals.
  • Experience, interest, and willingness to teach students of all academic abilities and grade levels.
  • Commitment to working closely with parents by communicating effectively about student success and failures in academics, attendance, and disciplinary issues with an emphasis on parent conferences.
  • Reviews, analyzes and evaluates student data to adapt and design instruction.
  • Establishes appropriate standards of student behavior, using behavioral management strategies and techniques specific to Accelerated Schools.
  • Willingness to incorporate various technologies in the classroom.
  • Individualizes and adapts educational processes and procedures to enhance student educational opportunities.

Teacher must hold Colorado Teaching License and be Highly Qualified in Math through an Endorsement, the PLACE or PRAXIS II content exam or meet a 24 semester credit review.

High level computer competency, flexible attitude, adaptable to learning and using the Accelerated Schools educational delivery system, be able to pass a drug screen and background checks.
