Test Higher! Newsletter November 2005 TELLBACKS Speaking helps the learning process. In traditional classrooms half the students speak less than 20 seconds in each period. Recorded Classrooms change priorities with tellbacks. Students practice speaking without competition from students or teachers 10 minutes each period. In 500 periods students speak 100 hours. Tellbacks rapidly rehearse the content students will write later. The process organizes and integrates information at high speeds. The brain analyzes auditory input and instructs the eyes where to look.

The learning environment remains non-competitive and non-critical because partners help each other. Teachers listen to each student tellback several times per week. They personally evaluate each student. The interaction between teachers and individual students controls the classroom.
