A 1995 study by Hart and Risely found that children from poorer families hear fewer words. In 4 years children from professional class homes hear 11 million words. Children from working class homes hear 6 million words. Children from welfare homes hear 3 million words. Every child has the ability to mimic. But children need correct models.
