5-5-5:
A learning format
consisting of
a 5-minute reading of text
5-minute Tell-Back
and 5-minute fast write.
Listeners create memory patterns
during the reading.
Variations include a 2-2-5 format
for very young students
or other non-readers.
---------------
MEMORY PATTERNS:
A non-linear
note-taking system.
To create
and/or write key words
phrases or symbols
at various places
on a sheet of paper
Cluster phrases together
to create parts of concepts.
Leave plenty of room
for additional phrases
as the text is read.
Memory patterns
may be drawn
on pre-printed
of guide phrases
or on blank sheets.
They can also be made
on visual aids
(maps, graphs, illustrations).
------------------
MEMORY GUIDES: Prepared to provide
a tree trunk of ideas
to which you may attach
an unlimited amount
of detail for remembering.
--------------------------------------------------------
GUIDE PHRASES:
Key words
terms or phrases
used as memory enhancers.
Write as many words
as you can
about the guide phrases.
Consider adding more words
to the same key concepts.
CHORUSING/4-PEATING
3-PEATING/PHRASING:
Rapidly repeating phrases
three or four times
while a recording plays.
Chorusing can be done
before and after a reading.
The 4-peat provides
a correct pronounciation model
to assist in material recall
This will reduce anxiety
about verbal ability.
-------------------
TELL-BACKS:
Use the memory pattern as a guide.
Orally relate the content
of the reading to a partner
Include as much detail
as can be recalled.
--------------------------------------------------------
FAST-WRITES:
Rapidly writing
in complete sentences
as much of the reading
and tell-back
as can be recalled.
Fastwrite advantages:
Immediate accountability
for material learned.
Progression of higher scores.
Quickly doubles writing speed
---(strong input)
--------------------------------------------------------
DOCUMENTARIES:
A written account
of a news story
or current event issue
taken from a print media source
accompanied by the source itself.
--------------------------------------------------------
PORTFOLIOS:
The collected memory patterns
fast writes
term papers
documentaries
book reports
tests
exercises
drawings
etc.
--------------------------------------------------------
WINNING SYSTEMS:
Techniques for rewarding
desirable behaviors
and ignoring or delaying responses
to undesirable behaviors
See "Winning Systems"
by Carl Peterson.
--------------------------------------------------------
ACCELERATED THINKING 555:
An umbrella term
incorporating the techniques
of Accelerated Listening
Memory Patterns
Memory previews/reviews
Peterson Reading
Accelerated Speaking
Accelerated Writing
Write Start
Peterson Typing
and Accelerated Think Tanks.
--------------------------------------------------------
ACCELERATED THINK TANKS:
A conversational
or meeting technique
following these simple rules:
A concept or question is placed
before a group (each member
of which is considered
an absolute equal)
It starts with a topic
or a 5 minute reading
reading of text.
A Talking Stick is passed around
always to the person
on the left.
Only the person
holding the Talking Stick
may speak.
Remarks are always limited
to a two or three minutes
by previous agreement.
No one may speak or ask questions
until they receive
the Talking Stick
and it is their turn.
Group members show respect
for all speakers
by creating memory patterns
of the entire proceeding.
If a member wishes
to make no comment
he or she can simply
pass the stick along
to the next person.
This is not to be considered
a "cop-out" or a slight
to the group.
--------------------------------------------------------
TALKING STICKS:
Any item (a pen
pencil
key
paperweight
or whatever)
that confers upon its holder
the right to speak
during a Think Tank.
--------------------------------------------------------
WRITE START:
A scholarship program
for 5-year-olds offered
by Accelerated Schools
designed to teach youngsters
basic literacy
and computer keyboarding skills.
SQ3R Study Skills
procedure:
The great majority
of teachers have been taught
a multiple reading approach
to learning called SQ3R.
Accelerated Thinking
uses a similar procedure
but adds high speed input
from recordings
This eliminates many
regressions and the stumbling
caused by technical or new vocabulary.
Unfamiliar vocabulary
must be practiced
for fluency in a topic
to take place.
Familiarity increases rapidly
Multiple re-statement
takes place during
Tell-Backs and Fast-Writes.

KEEP YOUR MEMORY PATTERNS
FOREVER:
Memory patterns
will help you remember
what you have learned
for your lifetime.
The words and patterns
in the guides work
like a picture album.
Each time you review them
they will instantly trigger
1000's of scenarios
in your mind.
Your mind's memory recovery rate
is measured in milli-seconds.
Review them
for a few minutes
every 5 years.
You won't have to say,
"I've forgotten!" so often.
